The first big step towards man/woman equity was to allow women to vote in 1944 (80 years ago as of today). This change operates somewhere between country and global scales, which means it would take several decades and up to a few centuries to achieve gender equity. The process is long and painful: - Women slowly start to feel empowered. - They don't instantly access to the same jobs as men, since they first need to go to the same school. For instance, if the ratio of men/women isn't roughly even in engineering school, the ratio of working engineers will be unequal as well. - Companies and managers are still 'old school' and it takes 1 to 3 generations of manager or more to change their mindsets. - Same goes for societal changes and gender clothes, toys and so on. TL;DR Everything needs to be updated and it takes a shitload of time. Even if we are on the right track, it's almost impossible to see change over a few months or even years. => [[Innovation cycle]]
