We naturally tend to read practical books more than theoretical. Taking myself as example, I believe 90% of the non-fiction books I read in my life were practical ones. It often feels like a 'waste' of time to read something you won't apply to your own life and practical books ususally contain some pre-packaged and usable information. => Cf. [[Prepackaged information]] as practical books are somehow similar to the learning process in school But theoretical books are rich in knowledge and contain high-level concept and principles that you can connect with other concepts on your own. It provokes thought and help you upgrade your mental models. And you can still take away practical things to apply to your own life, you simply have to extrapolate and think about it a little! To learn well and to understand the world better, I believe I should read way more theoretical books. I will try to read mutliple books at once, with the following categories in mind: - One practical book - One history book - One philosophy book - One scientific book - One social science book I'll try to see if I am able to draw many connections with my existing knowledge.
