MOC: [[Critical Thinking]] *** We're surrounded by paradoxes: - We want to be healthy, yet we consume junk food. - We want to be smarter, yet we scroll mindlessly on TikTok and Instagram instead of reading a good book. > "If a male enjoys dressing up and behaving like a woman, he was born that way. If a female enjoys dressing up and behaving like a woman, she was brainwashed by society." - [[Rob Henderson]] This view of the world occurs in a couple steps: 1. People notice the paradox. 2. Then, they embrace the paradox and understand both sides. 3. Finally, they try to reconcile it by picking the narrative that fits best with their identities and beliefs. This opens door to cognitive biases. Some people never get to step 1 and never notice the paradox, skipping the whole process and going straight to having a strong opiniong tied to their identity. And some people don't take a step back and succumb to their need to reconcile both sides of the paradox in step 3, even though both can be true at the same time and/or the narrative they choose to belive in is deeply flawed in terms of reasoning. => [[Is it a linguistic problem?]]
