On growing a cohesive and healthy nation see de Botton 2013, p. 210. *** What are various European countries motto? France: "Liberty, Equality, Fraternity" Germany: "Unity and Justice and Freedom" Italy: "Italy is a democratic republic, founded on labor" Spain: "Further Beyond" I can talk at least for France, but this motto is not top of mind for most people. It doesn't necessarily reflect who and what we are as a country, but merely some values we raised as a flag centuries ago (not to say they are necessarily bad values though). So, it could be a great idea to refactor our motto into a set of values & behaviours that resonate with both the people today and how the world evolved. And then ensuring these values are part of our everyday lives. It would be a great way to let foreigners identify France as a country to live in that would be a good fit for them. For instance, US and Canada sound like great coutries for hard workers and people with an entrepreneur mindset! => [[How we see other countries]] : It's far easier to apprehend a country if their values are crystal clear to the foreign eye. => [[Freedom is not the golden standard]] : An interesting take on a keyword from the French motto.
