On two models of postitive impact see de Botton 2013, p. 173

Many people approach life by trying to get ahead, only then will they try to give back through social impact, usually in their 50s and beyond.
This approach of social impact doesn't take into account compound interests.
We could for instance aim a light but regular social impact and grow it as our means will grow as well. This strategy has several advantages:
- You start having impact earlier, which means your impact is multiplied overtime
- You get the mental health benefits of contributing during your whole life
- You can still get to contribute a lot in your late years
=> Concept closely related to effective altruism
