[[Marcus Aurelius]] emphasizes that we only get value from the present time. From his perspective, we're all equal in face of death. We can't fear losing our future because it doesn't exist yet and we can't regret the past especially if we lived a life of virtue.
I've been troubled with existential void since I'm a little kid and I think this is the first piece of wisdom that resonates with me, that moves me. It's profound yet very logical. And it doesn't depend of theology to be relevant.
I think stoicism is something I should look into a bit more.
