MOC: [[Moral Compass]]
On overthinking actions of others see Aurelius 2024, Third Book - IV.
***
According to [[Marcus Aurelius]] you should not let others bother you, wether by their behaviour or thoughts.
I noticed that I spend a lot of time reflecting on other people behaviour.
Why did they do or say what they did or sayed? What were they thinking? What opinion do they hold about me? Did they do X on purpose?
It is true that it's only speculation in the end, and speculation of very little value as it will not hold any impact on my life.
There is a difference with:
- Empathy, where it's useful to welcome another man's emotion and to understand them
- Reflecting on someone's thoughts or action when it's associated to a purpose or a problem you want to solve
Once again I think I have much to learn from stoicism.
